Redundant internet access overview
An Internet outage will damage the ability for your company to do business with the outside world. Today, it is not uncommon for major Internet Service Providers to drop a connection, or an accident with a cut line can cause you to lose your Internet connection for hours or days before repairs can be made.
ZDS Unified Threat Management devices (UTM) include a slot that accepts a cellular internet card for redundant access. If your main internet connection goes down, the UTM device automatically connects your entire office network to the internet via a cellular connection.
Why do I need redundant internet access?
Your company needs to plan for internet disasters in the same way that you already plan for network disasters. Battery backups, data backups, and redundant servers are all important aspects of your disaster preparedness, but most companies do not consider the impact that internet loss will have on conducting business.
The ZDS redundant internet solution is fully automated. If your internet connection is lost, the UTM device automatically switches to cellular internet until your main connection is restored. This ensures that your normal operation is not interrupted during an internet outage.
