Intrusion Prevention Services Overview
A firewall is required on your network to stop known attack methods, but what do you do to prevent unknown and new methods that your firewall doesn't understand? The answer is an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS). IPS monitors for network abnormalities that could be new attack forms and stops them before they cause damage.
Our Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliance includes Intrusion Prevention Service as part of it's suite of security features. It monitors all of the traffic entering or leaving your office's network from any computer, regardless of what operating systems or applications you are running.
Why do I need Intrusion Prevention Services?
The two main reasons for an Intrusion Prevention System deployment are the containment of computer attacks and the compliance with regulations such as PCI or SOX. If your office network is attacked either by a virus or by a malicious web page, an IPS will block the effects of the attack. If a virus outbreak does occur, an IPS can block the virus from spreading until it can be eradicated.
